Oral Abstract Presentations will take place on Wednesday, April 14, 2027, from 3:30–5:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of The Bethesdan Hotel.

Each presenter will have 15 minutes total:

• 12 minutes for the presentation
• 3 minutes for questions and discussion

A speaker timer will be used to ensure that all presentations remain on schedule.

Presentation Guidelines

All presentations must be created in Microsoft PowerPoint and formatted in the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio required by the conference audiovisual system.

Each presentation must include:

• A presentation title and presenter identification slide
• A Conflict of Interest disclosure slide
• A final questions slide that includes the names and contact information of all presenters

Formatting and File Requirements

• Save your presentation in 16:9 widescreen format. In PowerPoint, select the Design tab, open the Slide Size menu, and choose Widescreen (16:9). If this option is unavailable, select Page Setup and manually enter a width of 16 inches and a height of 9 inches.
• Save your presentation as a .pptx file. Do not submit your presentation as a PDF.

• Name your file using your assigned presentation number, last name, and first name, separated by underscores: Presentation#_Last_First.pptx

  Example: P001_Smith_John.pptx

• If your presentation includes video, please bring the original video files in addition to embedding them in your PowerPoint. An A/V technician will verify that the videos are embedded and functioning correctly.

Presentation Upload Deadline

Presenters must bring their final PowerPoint presentation on a USB device to the Woodmont Executive Boardroom on the second floor of The Bethesdan Hotel by 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2027.

An A/V technician will transfer the presentation to the shared presentation computer and prepare it for the session. Presentations must be in their final form when submitted, as changes cannot be made after the file has been transferred.

Presenters do not need to bring their personal computers to the presentation session.

Abstract posters will be presented during the Renal Week Welcome Reception & Scientific Exchange, sponsored by Zoetis, on Wednesday, April 14, 2027, from 6:30–9:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of The Bethesdan Hotel.

All Renal Week attendees are strongly encouraged to attend, explore the posters, and engage directly with the presenting authors while enjoying complimentary refreshments.

Presenter Attendance

Presenting authors must attend the conference in person and be available to present and discuss their posters during the Poster Session & Scientific Exchange.

Poster Drop-Off

Posters must be delivered to the Renal Week Registration Desk no later than 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2027. Instructions and materials for displaying posters will be provided onsite.

Poster Dimensions

Posters may not exceed 48 inches wide × 72 inches high.

Required Poster Content

Each poster should include the following:

• Title
• Author names and institutional affiliations
• Email address of the corresponding author
• Introduction
• Methods
• Results
• Discussion
• References

Posters Presenting Study Designs Without Results

Posters describing a proposed or ongoing study for which results are not yet available should include:

• Anticipated Results in place of the Results section
• Research Questions in place of the Discussion section

The Research Questions section may contain a bulleted list of questions or discussion points that could influence the study design or methodology.

QR Codes and Supplemental Information

QR codes may be included on posters to allow attendees to download the abstract, access a digital copy of the poster, or view additional supporting information.

Poster Printing

Authors are responsible for printing and transporting their own posters. The nearest facility to The Bethesdan Hotel offering poster-printing services is The UPS Store. Authors are strongly encouraged to confirm printing capabilities, turnaround times, and operating hours directly with the store in advance.

Poster Removal

Posters may be removed beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2027, at the conclusion of Renal Week. All posters must be collected by 1:00 p.m. Any posters remaining after that time will be discarded.

Trainees, including students, interns, residents, and PhD candidates, who present an oral abstract or abstract poster are eligible for the following cash prizes:

Oral Abstract Presentations

• First Place: $1,000
• Second Place: $800

Abstract Poster Presentations

• First Place: $700
• Second Place: $500

Award recipients will be determined by the total scores received using the established judging rubric for their respective presentation category.

Winners’ mentors will be notified before the awards ceremony to help ensure that the recipients are present. Winners will be announced and recognized onstage during the ACVNU Awards Presentation on Friday, April 16, 2027, from 8:00–8:50 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of The Bethesdan Hotel.

Each winner will receive a certificate during the ceremony. Following the conference, ACVNU will email the required financial forms to each recipient so their prize money can be issued directly.

The Trainee Research Presentation Scholarship Program helps trainees who might otherwise be unable to attend Renal Week share their research with an international audience of veterinary specialists, researchers, and industry leaders.

Abstract authors currently undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate training—including undergraduate students, interns, residents, master’s or PhD students, and individuals in comparable training programs—may apply for a registration scholarship. Applicants will be considered for a scholarship only if their abstract is accepted for an oral or poster presentation.

Scholarship Coverage

Each scholarship includes registration for both the 2027 Extracorporeal Therapies Boot Camp and ACVNU–IRIS Renal Week, taking place April 12–17, 2027.

Travel, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and any other expenses beyond the included registration benefits are the responsibility of the recipient.

The Trainee Research Presentation Scholarship Program is separate from the Zoetis-sponsored Renal Week Research Abstract Prize.
